Charkhi, 1979, a village in Pakistani Punjab. Aïcha is a happy woman in her forties who never speaks of his past. Since the death of her husband, 18 year old son is the center of their existence. Salim, good boy, sweet and dreamy, is in love with Zoubida. In Pakistan, General Zia-ul-Haq has just taken power and martial law. The country is introduced into the path of Islamization.
